Playful Design with Alyea Sandovar
Dr. Alyea Sandovar is a gamification and play consultant at Tint Hue. She helps established business owners create deeper engagement for their online programs and turn clients into raving fans through gamification. She is also the co-founder of the Playful Creative Summit. A free summit dedicated to adding more play and creativity to the world which launches every year in April. She has a PhD is in Game Production, a Masters in Psychology, a Masters in Human Organizational Systems, and a Bachelor’s in Public Relations and Communication. She has experience with academic institutions, non profits, game studios, corporations and start-ups.
She was inspired to get into games through games she played with her Abuelita Lela in Colombia. Later as a psychotherapist she saw the power of play and games to transform the lives of her clients which led her to her studies in video games.
She believes creating playful products should not be a headache. She considers herself a spiritual being, so she aims to bring love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and determination, to every client project. She loves God, cocoa drinks, traveling, dancing and is a bit obsessed with UFOs and Sci-Fi.

Gamefication builds relationships which engages customers with your offers. Generally we think of gamefication as leader boards, badges and points… there’s more to it though.
Gamefication is combining ART and SCIENCE. Especially behavioral science. It’s creating a more interactive experience and building a relationship.
There is no “one size fits all” each product will need its one approach.
Essentially if your company doesn’t look after its customers or it’s not really doing a good job. Gamefication isn’t going to do much.
It will just amplify what you do.
Do something good and it will amplify this!
Designing a more playfulife
This is core to our work so we asked Alyea about this.
– Begin the day with a playful practice.
– Find out your play personality (Stuart Brown)
– When you base your play practice on your play personality its so different!
– 3-5 things depending on your available time.
– Play with your puppy, cuddle kids, watch comedy, movement, reading, something non related to work life.
Find the things you wish you had time for everyday and GO FOR IT!
Playfulness gives us an incredible centre, we become fully alive and enter the state of FLOW.
There comes a feeling of I’m going to be OK – Inner security.
We awaken trust and feeling of faith in life.
Alyea organises together with David Chislett the PLAYFUL AND CREATIVE SUMMIT 21-26 April 2021.
